GOP Senator: We Should Be Doing Our Jobs and Hold SCOTUS Hearings
The dam is beginning to break.
Republican Senator Jerry Moran said this week that the Republicans should be holding hearings and voting on Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland, despite much conservative resistance.
According to the Garden City Telegram, the Kansas senator told constituents that, even though his colleagues don’t want it to happen in an election year, they should take up the nomination process.
He said, “I would rather have you complaining to me that I voted wrong on nominating somebody than saying I’m not doing my job… I’ve never shown up to a job before saying we’re not going to work.”
Moran clarified that he doubted he would end up voting for anyone Obama nominates, but said the Senate still needs to proceed.
