Greta Van Susteren Trades Barbs with New York Mag’s Frank Rich
An arrogant comment by New York magazine‘s Frank Rich set off Fox News’s Greta Van Susteren.
On Tuesday, Rich published a column harshly critical of former secretary of state Hillary Clinton and her memoir Hard Choices. Contained in his column, this dig at Van Susteren:
“[M]uch of the press was unkind to Hard Choices itself. You know a Clinton book is in trouble when one of its few partisans is a Fox News personality—Van Susteren, who called it ‘a fun read.'”
Van Susteren responded directly to Rich on her blog:
Yes…I found Secretary Clinton’s book interesting to read – even fun, because I traveled on many of the foreign trips she writes about (Afghanistan, Pakistan, India etc.). Her book gave me more information about those trips than what I saw or heard while on those trips. That is interesting, and yes, fun, since I like to learn and getting more information is fun for me. I am forever curious…
She continued: “My thought? To quote you in part, ‘you know you are in trouble’ when you are writing about a book that came out two months ago. :)”
We’ve requested comment from Rich as to whether his intent was to be condescending and whether he respects Van Susteren as a reporter.
