Gun Range Owner Says James Holmes Sounded ‘Freakish’ Over Phone
The manager of a gun range in Colorado today revealed that last month, Aurora shooting suspect James Holmes sent an online application in order to join the range, and called Holmes’ house to follow up with him. Glenn Rotkovich told CNN that Holmes left him a message that he described as “weird and bizarre.”
He explained that he called Holmes twice to try and reach out to him, and both times he received strange messages on his answering machine from Holmes.
He said the voice was “guttural, freakish, maybe drunk. Just weird and bizarre — a deep, guttural, forced voice”…
“It bothered me so much I told my staff, ‘If this guy shows up, he gets nothing until I meet him,’ ” Rotkovich said.
After that, Rotkovich tried calling Holmes one more time, but didn’t receive a message back. When the news about the shooting broke on Friday, one of Rotkovich’s staffers recognized the name and connected it to the application Holmes sent them last month.
