Now that NBC News has reported that Exxon Mobil’s CEO Rex Tillerson has been chosen as Donald Trump‘s preferred Secretary of State, reactions are rolling in.
Many of them have to do with his ties to Russia and friendship with Vladimir Putin. He was given the Order of Friendship decoration by the Kremlin in 2012.

Trump and Putin are literally mocking us, America; announcing the Tillerson pick after the CIA revelation is beyond brazen. https://t.co/rDFpB2rk42

Anyone want to wager what Putin threatened to publicly release, if Trump didn’t pick Tillerson?

I’m sure its just a coincidence that guy Trump picks out of the blue for SecState-who has no previous gov experience-got a medal from Putin.

Other reactions are focusing on Mitt Romney, who was paraded around as a possible pick for weeks.
<<whispers>> of course it was never going to be Mitt.
— Christopher Hayes (@chrislhayes) December 10, 2016
Man they really hung Romney out to dry.
— Rosie Gray (@RosieGray) December 10, 2016
how many times is Trump going to “scorpion and the frog” Republicans like Mitt before they figure out he’s *always* going to sting them?

Let Mitt Romney’s humiliation be a lesson to you.

Mitt did this for nothing. pic.twitter.com/G80gWVkzIp

As a huge fan of watching Mitt Romney get jerked around, I’m torn.

Now, we wait for the confirmation hearings to find out what is going to happen. If these reactions are any indication, it’s going to be very dramatic.
