Hershey’s Sues Politician Named Hershey for Ripping Off Their Logo

There’s a chocolate crisis going on in this nation, and it concerns a logo. Hershey’s is suing Maryland state senator Stephen Hershey for what they claim is a ripoff of their internationally-recognized logo for his reelection campaign.

Here’s a side-by-side comparison of the two logos.

Similar? Oh, yes.

Hershey’s claims “this is an unauthorized use of our distinctive and famous design” that is meant to convey the message that they have officially endorsed Hershey’s campaign. Hershey (the man) claims he’s well within his legal rights to do this.

And if you can believe it, this is not the first time Hershey and Hershey’s have clashed. Hershey’s complained in both 2002 and 2010 about Hershey ripping off their logo.
