Hidden Camera Captures CNN Producer Questioning Trump/Russia Investigation: ‘Mostly Bullsh*t Right Now’

Conservative activist James O’Keefe has released an undercover video that shows CNN Health producer John Bonifield critiquing his own network over their coverage of the investigations into President Trump and Russia.

The video is the latest installment of O’Keefe’s Project Veritas, and it shows Bonifield talking about how critical Trump coverage has been good for CNN’s viewership ratings. Throughout the video, Bonifield states he hasn’t seen any evidence of Trump’s collusion with Russia’s election interference, and that the president is “probably right” to say the ongoing investigations are a “witch hunt” against him.

“It’s mostly bullshit right now. Like, we don’t have any giant proof,” Bonifield says. “I just feel like they don’t really have it, but they want to keep digging. And so I think the president is probably right to say, like, look you are witch hunting me.”

Brian Stelter reacted to O’Keefe’s video with this statement from CNN’s PR team:

Multiple news sources reached out to CNN, and they report that the network is not particularly concerned about Bonifield’s commentary. Sources have also said that Bonifield is not close to the network’s investigative news team, nor is he deeply involved in their editorial decision-making.

Bonifield’s comments come as CNN faces major condemnation over an unsubstantiated story which claimed that one of Trump’s former associates was being investigated by the Senate’s Russia probe. CNN has retracted that story, and several of the newspeople involved in its publication have resigned from the news agency.
