Hillary Campaign Fundraises Off ‘Baseless’ Clinton Cash Allegations

Rather than ignore — or attempt to explain — the allegations made against the Clinton Foundation in Peter Schweizer‘s new book, Clinton Cash: The Untold Story of How and Why Foreign Governments and Businesses Helped Make Bill and Hillary Rich, Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign has decided to use it as a fundraising opportunity.

In a new email to supporters, campaign chair John Podesta acknowledges the book — “written by a former Republican operative with ties to a Koch-funded organization” — but dismisses it as nothing more than “allegations and conspiracy theories” used to “stitch together a false narrative about Hillary without producing a single shred of evidence.”

Podesta urges supporters to “fight back” by visiting Clinton’s official website, where, once you “sign your name to show you’ve got Hillary’s back,” you are prompted to make a donation.

CNN producer Dan Merica posted an image of the email on Twitter:

While Podesta cites a Time magazine article that says the book’s accusations are “based on little evidence” and presents “questions rather than proof” and Yahoo News piece that finds “no smoking gun,” he does not mention the damning New York Times article that has lent the book’s narrative some crucial credibility.
