How Much Did George Zimmerman Reportedly Get for the Gun Used to Kill Trayvon Martin?

zimmermanDespite the renewed outrage and efforts by trolls to take him down online, George Zimmerman might have found an actual buyer for the gun that ended Trayvon Martin‘s life.

According to a report from TMZ, seven verified bidders fought it out on United Gun Group and the weapon’s sale is being finalized. The auction site’s rules allow the bidder to remain anonymous, but the winning amount is said to top $120,000.

Though the court ruled that Zimmerman was not guilty in his trial for Martin’s death, his sale of the weapon and his apparent lack of remorse for the incident have made him the object of a great deal of public condemnation. Zimmerman experienced multiple difficulties selling the gun, seeing as his first online auction was taken down for the gun’s controversial past, while his second was hijacked by online pranksters.

Zimmerman’s third auction was set up with new measures to determine legitimate bids on the gun, and he told Orlando Sentinel that the sale is over and “the process of notifying the winning bidder will begin immediately.”

“I would also like to thank all members of United Gun Group for their support and words of encouragement,” Zimmerman wrote.
