First Round NCAA Tournament action continues Friday from South Carolina, where the North Carolina Tar Heels open up their Tournament with a match-up against the Texas Southern Tigers.
North Carolina fell to Duke in the ACC semifinal, but it did not cost them a No. 1 seed. Still, many now view the Blue Devils as the favorite to win it all, a position North Carolina might have assumed if that game has come out the other way.
Texas Southern, meanwhile, looks to pull off the history-making upset. As we mentioned Thursday in our post about the Villanova-Mount St. Mary’s game, no. 16 seed has ever beaten a one in the NCAA Tournament. But perhaps the Tigers can draw some inspiration from Mount St. Mary’s, which played a very competitive first half (they went into the locker room down by only one point) before giving way in the second.
Tip-off is scheduled for approximately 4:00 p.m ET on TNT. The game can be streamed online free with a cable subscription via NCAA March Madness Live. It can also be streamed via the March Madness Live app, which can be downloaded from Apple’s App store or the Google Play store.
