Jimmy Fallon And Craig Ferguson Usher Era Of Peace Between Late Night Hosts

Late night comedy television has consistently been a location for heated competition – recently, more so than ever. (“Late night wars” has to be one of the most populated non-cable news tag pages on Mediaite.)

But this week, Jimmy Fallon and Craig Ferguson did their parts to end the wars and become BFFs.

The NBC and CBS competitors at 12:35amET found peace thanks to Mickey Mouse hands. It began with Ferguson. “I’m reaching out to you, direct-competitor Jimmy Fallon,” he said Tuesday. “I know you’re a good kid, I know you want to do the right thing. I want you to get a Mickey Mouse hand on and wave back to me from that network you’re on.”

The next night, Fallon obliged. “Let me tell you something buddy: this is how late night wars start. No one can just tell me what to do,” joked the NBC host, before waving and smiling (Ferguson did the same at the same time on CBS).

Ferguson drove home the point on Twitter:

Big ups to my new BFF @jimmyfallon for spreading the love with the glove. Fuck the haters Jimmy.

Fallon and Ferguson are both considered prime options for the 11:35 slot once David Letterman and Jay Leno leave (insert Jay Leno leaving joke here). It appears the 12:35ers will have a much more cordial relationship.

Here’s Fallon’s wave:
