John Bolton Informs ‘Totally Unbiased Mainstream Media’ He Will Not Be Shaving His Mustache
One of the weirder pieces of news out of the Trump transition is a report that President-elect Donald Trump is factoring in people’s looks in deciding whether to appoint them to high-level positions.
One anonymous Trump associate told The Washington Post that Trump wouldn’t like John Bolton‘s mustache, saying, “I can’t think of anyone that’s really close to Donald that has a beard that he likes.”
(For the record, one of Trump’s communications appointments today was of spokesman Jason Miller, who has a goatee.)
Bolton was reported to be up for Secretary of State (or possibly Undersecretary), and this new report inspired the American Mustache Institute to speak up in his defense. No, seriously.
Now, Trump has not made all of his appointments yet, which means Bolton could still end up being in the administration. But for now, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations has this message for the press:
I appreciate the grooming advice from the totally unbiased mainstream media, but I will not be shaving my #mustache.
