California Senator and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris is crushing her competition online, according to new reporting from Axios.
Harris officially kicked off her bid for the Democratic nomination a few weeks ago, drawing a huge crowd to a rally in Oakland. And according to research published by Axios Thursday, she’s drawing even larger throngs online. In the past three months, articles about Harris have clocked 16.5 million interactions from influential Twitter and Facebook accounts, over 2 million more than her next competitor, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren.

Harris’ dominance extends to Google, Instagram, and Twitter. Per Axios:
On Google, Harris was searched twice as often as Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, who were next closest, according to Google Trends.
Instagram interactions, according to CrowdTangle:
Harris: 8.3 million
Sanders: 4.6 million
Warren: 2 millionTwitter interactions, according to CrowdTangle (combining Senate and personal accounts):
Harris: 14.4 million
Sanders: 8 million
Warren: 4.1 million
Bernie Sanders has a significant edge on Facebook, but of the declared 2020 candidates, Harris leads there as well.
Polling on the race shows Harris leading all of the declared candidates, but trailing Sanders and former Vice President Joe Biden. The most recent Washington Post poll, however, showed most Democrats without a clear favorite, and among those who offered a name, Harris was just one point behind Biden, and far ahead of Sanders and the rest.
There are many miles to go in the Democratic primary race, but social media dominance like this is a good sign for Kamala Harris.
