Kansas Gov. Will Sign a ‘Zombie Preparedness Month’ Proclamation

Either the state of Kansas is really, really into The Walking Dead, or they just found a creative way to warn people about impending disasters. This week, Governor Sam Brownback is scheduled to sign a proclamation declaring October to be Zombie Preparedness Month.

Gee, I wonder what could possibly be happening in October that would make people think of zombies…

That’s right, the fifth season premiere of The Walking Dead.

Oh, yeah, and I guess Halloween too, sort of.

The idea of Zombie Preparedness Month in Kansas, according to a press release, is “if you’re prepared for zombies, you’re prepared for anything.” State official Devan Tucking says, “If you’re equipped to handle the zombie apocalypse then you’re prepared for tornadoes, severe storms, fire and any other natural disaster Kansas usually faces.”

So basically, this is Disaster Preparedness 101 only with a much cooler name. (And don’t think Kansas is alone in this.)
