Kanye West Responds To Rumor Started by Onion-Like Site

kanye_7-31Did you know Kanye West said he wants to be known as the “New King of Pop,” now that Michael Jackson died?

Well you may have heard it, but Kanye definitely didn’t say it. And now he’s responding. So what happened?

A Website called ScrapeTV.com wrote a story about West, full of quotes from West that make him sound, admittedly, pretty ridiculous. “First there was Elvis, then there was Michael, now in the 21st century its Kanye’s time to rule,” he supposedly says.

Except ScrapeTV.com is essentially a lower-quality TheOnion.com. In other words, it’s completely fake.

But that didn’t stop several gossip sites from picking up on it, and eventually was mentioned by Wendy Williams on the radio.

Today West responded on his blog. Since it was all-caps, we’ll keep it that way:

NOT ONLY DID I NOT SAY THAT, I HAVEN’T SAID ANYTHING. IT MAKES ME FEEL BAD THAT OBVIOUSLY I MADE PEOPLE FEEL THAT I WOULD BE CORNY ENOUGH TO SAY SOMETHING SO WHACK AFTER THE PASSING OF AN IDOL, A LEGEND AND MORE THAN THAT A HUMAN BEING WITH FEELINGS AND FAMILY. IT SCARES ME TO THINK WHAT PEOPLE WILL BELIEVE, WITHOUT EVEN A SOURCE.

If only there was a site to call out this poor reporting? Oh right, now there is (obligatory GossipCop shout-out #1).
