Katie Couric Explores What Makes Teen Star Justin Bieber Tick
First it was Glenn Beck – now it’s Justin Bieber.
The teen hip-pop star sat down for an interview with CBS’ Katie Couric for her in-depth @KatieCouric web show, and the audience of likely non-Bieber fans learned why they should be (or confirmed why they aren’t).
Sadly, the main takeaway from the interview may have been the yawn Bieber let loose while in the middle of a question about why he’s just so darn popular. But once he got over his little yawn spell, he had an answer ready to go on whether fame is overwhelming: “Nah, I think it’s great.”
If you wanted to know how Bieber became famous, check his YouTube rags to riches story below:
I looked and it was like, I got 100 views, and I was like, I don’t have 100 family members. Like, that was a lot at the time. And then I got 200 views and it like, kept going up and I was like, let’s just keep posting more videos and see what happens.
And then – it happened. Also, let web expert Bieber explain the way these series of tubes works: “The Internet is so great because it makes people feel like they’re a part of the whole process. Like Twitter for example, people want to know what you’re eating for breakfast.”
But seriously when the show first premiered in September, we wrote it would serve as a “means of furthering her brand on the Web as well as landing buzz-worthy guests.”
And whether it’s Beck or Bieber (or Tina Brown, or Mike Huckabee, or pretty much all of Couric’s weekly guests so far) the interviews do continue to serve CBS and the Evening News anchor well. Even if it’s to vastly different audiences.
Still, we would have liked to know what magazines and newspapers this little teenybopper reads.
Here they are discussing his famous hair flip (which I’m sure you’ve seen thousands of times), and on the next page, watch the full interview:
