Leaked Email: Clinton Ally Was ‘Petrified’ the GOP Wouldn’t Nominate Trump

clinton-7-e1474566318260New Hillary Clinton emails have been made public today, one of which shows an ally of hers worrying about whether she stood a chance against anyone besides Donald Trump for the 2016 election.

Brent Budowsky is a Clinton supporter and a left-leaning columnist, and WikiLeaks unveiled a conversation he had back in March with campaign chairman John Podesta. In his email, Budowsky not only admitted Clinton often “says things that are untrue,” he also criticized her for conflicting with Bernie Sanders when he and his supporters might be crucial come November.

After recommending how Clinton can adjust her message to reflect Sanders’ positions, Budowsky voiced concern that Clinton’s probability of winning the White House is highly based on whether Trump is her final opponent.

“Right now I am petrified that Hillary is almost totally dependent on Republicans nominating Trump….she has huge endemic political weaknesses that she would be wise to rectify…..even a clown like Ted Cruz would be an even money bet to beat and this scares the hell of out me.”

Budowsky’s comment might be a reflection of how Trump and Clinton have high levels of dislike among many of the voters. During the early stages of the election, projections determined that Clinton had a fair chance of defeating Trump, though she would have had a harder time defeating a more traditional, less controversial Republican politician.
