Musician T-Pain had an excited and amusing reaction to watching the explosion of a SpaceX Starship rocket Thursday evening, and luckily for his Instagram followers, it was caught on video.
This was the eighth attempted test flight of the Starship mega rocket, a 400-foot-tall spacecraft that launched Thursday evening from Brownsville, Texas. Roughly eight minutes after launch, the rocket experienced multiple engine failures and could be seen spinning off course before all communications were lost. Multiple observers posted videos on social media showing the rocket exploding into pieces and falling back down to earth.
The Starship mission failure resulted in “space launch debris” that was significant enough to cause the FAA to temporarily halt all incoming and outgoing flights for the airports in Orlando, Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami, Florida.
In a video posted to his Instagram account Friday, T-Pain, the professional name for the Florida-born rapper and producer Faheem Rashad Najm, shared his reactions to watching the rocket fly past his yacht and then go very, very wrong.

“We saw the SpaceX launch fail from the yacht!!! That was crazy,” T-Pain wrote for the caption, followed by several exploding head mind-blown emojis.
“What the fuck is going on over there? Oh, is that a SpaceX launch?” T-Pain says in the video. “It’s moving fast as shit!”
His wife Amber Najm can be heard reacting, “Oh, you can see the boosters falling off and everything,” and he repeats, “Oh, there’s boosters falling off and shit!”
“Yooooo, look at the fucking shit falling off!” he says with more excitement, as the video is edited to add clips from the SpaceX feed showing the problems start. “Yoooo! Look at all that shit! This shit is moving so fast, bro!”
“YOOO! That’s CRAAAAZY! Yo — that’s nuts!” he shouts as the rocket breaks apart into glowing pieces falling from the sky.
“Can you imagine not knowing about SpaceX and seeing this?” his wife comments.
“That was fucking awesome!” he says. “That wasn’t normal. Did we just catch a fucking SpaceX crash?”
