Maddow to Cruz: ‘You Own’ Ted Nugent’s Anti-Semitic Remarks

Tonight, Rachel Maddow took aim at Ted Cruz during a segment on The Rachel Maddow Show called “Are They With You?” She brought up NRA board member Ted Nugent‘s recent anti-Semitic gun control post and then pointed out Nugent’s recent endorsement of Cruz.

“Nobody is responsible for their own endorsers,” she prefaced her takedown. “Nobody can be held accountable for the thoughts and actions of people who like them. You can’t control who likes you!”

Then, she pulled up a photo of Cruz’s campaign website, which is proudly displaying Nugent’s endorsement with the headline, “TED NUGENT SAYS TED CRUZ IS HIS FAVORITE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE.”

“You do kind of own this,” she said before giving other examples of Cruz’s campaign showing off endorsements from controversial public figures.

Maddow has been ragging on Cruz since long before he announced his candidacy, but this time felt a little more exasperated than usual as she ended by telling the audience that the Cruz campaign wouldn’t respond to MSNBC’s requests for clarification, but maybe someone else could get something out of them.
