Madonna Insists She Isn’t Racist or Comparing Herself to MLK, Mandela
Madonna has been promoting her new album Rebel Heart with photos of iconic rebels like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Nelson Mandela, and John Lennon, but wants to make it clear she’s not comparing herself to them.

Madonna posted on Facebook last night that she did not mean for that to be a comparison between her and those men. She said the pictures are simply an acknowledgement of their #rebelhearts and “this is neither a crime or an insult or racist.” Here’s the full Facebook post:
But there is still the whole question of using iconic figures like that to promote an upcoming album in the first place.
