Man Fires Bow and Arrow at a Bird, Accidentally Hits 9-Year-Old Girl

Put this one in the “‘Whoops’ doesn’t even BEGIN to cover it” file. 27-year-old Rhode Island resident Daniel King was in his driveway with a bow and arrow. Seems innocent enough. He was aiming at a pigeon and fired at it. Unfortunately, the arrow ricocheted and hit a nine-year-old girl in the back.

Police obviously showed up to respond to the scene. King was taken into custody and charged with felony assault, but he sounded rather apologetic about the whole thing.

The victim’s sister explained, “We were just talking for a couple minutes and that’s when he shot Lexi. I thought it was one of those plastic ones, you know? Then I turned around and he was there just looking at us. Then she goes ‘Ow, ow,’ and the thing fell out…and I saw blood.”

The little girl had a big hole in her back. She was bandaged and then immediately sent to the hospital.
