Merry Christmas From The TSA, OR, How A Cupcake Became A Security Threat
Rebecca Hains was only trying to make her flight from Las Vegas a lil’ sweeter when she was stopped by a TSA agent and promptly informed that the frosting on her cupcake was too “gel-like” and, as such, posed a possible security threat. You know, just like all those dastardly gel-filled snowglobes you’re not allowed to bring in your carry-on bags.
Even stranger: Hains, who had been given two cupcakes as a gift, had been allowed to bring them on her an earlier flight from Boston’s Logan International Airport without incident.
Hains contacted the the cupcake maker, Wicked Good Cupcakes, which told her they’d ship her a whole new batch for free. “Apparently we’re a tasty, terrorist threat,” they said. “I guess we were also amazed at what can pass through security in one airport, but not in another.”

For those of you who are curious, the cupcake pictured in this post is Wicked Good Cupcakes’ “Rock Candy Cake” and I would like one.
Have a look at a report on Hains’ ordeal. And do be careful when transporting your sweets this holiday season. Better yet, don’t risk it; send them all to me:
