Michael Phelps Arrested for DUI in Maryland
Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps was arrested in Baltimore late Monday night for DUI, according to multiple reports.
Police stopped Phelps when he was reportedly driving over 80 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone. A statement from the Maryland Transit Authority reads, “Mr. Phelps was identified as the driver by his driver’s license and appeared to be under the influence. He was unable to perform satisfactorily a series of standard field sobriety tests. Mr. Phelps was cooperative throughout the process.”
Phelps had previously been arrested and charged with DUI ten years ago, when he was also pulled over for speeding.
Update- 4:26 pm: Phelps tweeted about the DUI later today:
