Michigan Coach Jim Harbaugh Visits Steakhouse That His Team Nearly Put Out of Business

screen-shot-2016-08-17-at-10-51-52-am-e1471445666556-650x474On Monday, we shared a story about a Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse location in Ann Arbor, Mich. — which offered a promotion offering 1% off restaurant checks for every point in the Michigan Wolverines’ winning margin. In the first game after the promotion was offered, Michigan defeated Rutgers by a whopping 78-0. (Although the discount was limited to 50%.)

Tuesday, Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh took advantage of the deal he helped secure for the restaurant’s patrons — as he stopped by to chow down on a steak (and wash it down with a glass of milk?) along with his wife Sarah.

Meanwhile, there’s a bit of controversy over the 50% off cap that the restaurant instituted. A tipster sent Mediaite a screengrab of the original Facebook ad, which makes no mention that the deal is limited to 50% regardless of Michigan’s winning margin.

It’s unclear if there was other literature advertising the promotion in which the fine print about the discount cap is included. But this Facebook ad (whose authenticity we’ve confirmed) makes no mention of it.

Further, reservations for those looking to take advantage of the deal have already been gobbled up, and the steakhouse has turned away dozens of customers — though not the coach.
