Miss Colombia: I Briefly Brought ‘Happiness to My Country’ as Miss Universe
Miss Colombia responded on Instagram to host Steve Harvey‘s embarrassing gaffe at the Miss Universe pageant last Sunday.
Ariadna Gutierrez, who was mistakenly crowned as Miss Universe by Harvey, wrote that she “was able to bring happiness to my country after becoming Miss Universe for only a couple of minutes.”
“I want to thank each and everyone of you who have sent messages of support and strength,” Gutierrez continued. “Every one of you has become an incredible human being in my book and I am the most fortunate and thankful for having the support not only from one country but from the whole entire world. Your destiny is written for you. And my destiny was this.”
Miss Colombia’s response to the otherwise internationally embarrassing matter is commendable.
Meanwhile, Entertainment Tonight reports that Harvey has signed a multi-year contract with the Miss Universe organization to remain as host for several years to come. This despite his colossal misstep at the end of Sunday’s live broadcast.
