NBC’s Cris Collinsworth Eviscerates Bill Simmons in a Now Deleted Tweet
Bill Simmons, host of the recently canceled HBO sports talk show Any Given Wednesday, fired a soft jab at NBC football analyst Cris Collinsworth on Twitter during Sunday night’s Patriots-Seahawks game. Collinsworth fired back with a haymaker.
As Collinsworth praised Seattle’s offensive line, the notorious Boston sports fan Simmons took a poke at Collinsworth:
Somebody needs to gently break the news to Collinsworth that the Pats have a weak front 7 and that’s why Seattle’s o-line looks good.

Collinsworth’s now deleted response was lethal:

Ouch.
The tweet was a clear shot at Simmons, whose Any Given Wednesday was pulled off the air just 17 episodes into a 37 episode run.
Simmons was also the subject of a critical New York Times column by longtime sports media critic Richard Sandomir. In his story for Monday’s paper, Sandomir seemed to suggest that any future TV ventures would likely go the way of Any Given Wednesday
“What became clear at HBO was also apparent at ESPN: Simmons is not good on television,” Sandomir wrote. “His informed but freewheeling and logorrheic writing voice and the loose persona he brings to podcasting do not translate well to onscreen work.”
