New Jersey Man Beats Mayor’s Aide with a Cane

According to NJ.com, an unidentified man became enraged and struck Anthony Vodrazka, aide to Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis, in the face with his cane.

But why? Why did this man, who was neither a politician nor a political rival of either Vodrazka or Davis, decide to violently attack the former with his handicap?

As city spokesperson Joe Ryan explains:

The elderly man had recently asked city workers to keep an eye out for the keys, Ryan said. He visited the Mayor’s Office after 4 p.m. yesterday to see if they had been found; when he learned they hadn’t, he became upset.

So the old man got pissed because he’d lost his keys somewhere. The day before, he’d asked the city office to look out for them, but later learned they had not. Or, at least, they hadn’t found them. So he struck the first thing that was within caning distance — Vodrazka’s face.

The man was not arrested, and no charges have been filed. Meanwhile, the film based on his life will most likely look something like this.
