North Korea has made new threats against the United States as an American Navy strike group continues to move towards the Korean Peninsula.

Korean Central News Agency quoted a statement from a foreign ministry spokesman who addressed the movements of the U.S.S Carl Vinson from over the past few days. The official stated that it was a “reckless” sign of an American invasion plan, and that North Korea would retaliate at any sign of a pre-emptive strike.

“We will take the toughest counteraction against the provocateurs in order to defend ourselves by powerful force of arms,” the statement said. “We will hold the US wholly accountable for the catastrophic consequences to be entailed by its outrageous actions.”

President Trump launched an airstrike into Syria approximately five days ago, and he has threatened to take action against North Korea due to their international aggression and their ballistic missile testing programs. Trump issued a series of tweets today where he doubled down on his previous comments, and said he will deal with the rogue nation whether China is willing to help him or not.
