NYPD Officer Reportedly Dead 2 Days After Shooting Incident in Queens
The 25-year-old NYPD sergeant who was shot over the weekend in Queens has passed away Monday morning, according to reports.
Brian Moore, who worked out of the NYPD’s 105th Precinct in Queens, was shot in the cheek on Saturday evening and was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. The suspect in his shooting was later identified as Demetrius Blackwell, who, according to police commissioner Bill Bratton, had an extensive arrest history and served seven years on attempted murder charges.
According to the New York Post, Moore died this morning after family removed him from life support.
Law enforcement claim the fatal incident occurred when Moore and his partner stopped Blackwell and asked him what he had in his waistband. “Yeah, I got something,” the ex-convict allegedly said back. Moore was shot around 6:15 p.m. and the suspect was immediately taken into custody.
