Parkland Survivors Tweet to Students at School Shooting in Maryland: ‘We Are Here For You’

As news breaks of yet another shooting at an American high school, the survivors of the Parkland, FL massacre are tweeting out messages of support.

On Tuesday morning, students were reportedly trapped inside Great Mills High School in Maryland as a shooting unfolded. They’ve since begun evacuating as FBI and ATF agents arrive on the scene to investigate.

Marjory Stoneman Douglas’s Delaney Tarr, who has been outspoken on the need for gun control, sent out a note encouraging a Great Mills student to stay strong.

Emma Gonzalez, also a prominent voice in the #NeverAgain movement for gun control, assured Great Mills high schoolers the Parkland survivors would be there for them.

Another Marjory Stoneman Douglas student, Jaclyn Corin, pointed out that Great Mills students had participated in a school walkout only last week, standing in solidarity with shooting victims, not realizing they would soon be impacted by the same tragedy.

Police have said the situation inside the Maryland school is contained, but details as to the number of injuries remain unclear.

The Great Mills shooting comes just days before the March For Our Lives, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday. Shooting survivors and their families plan to demonstrate in Washington, D.C. to stop gun violence and school massacres.
