Parks & Recreation Stars Blast NRA After Organization Uses GIF From Show

Stars of the NBC sitcom Parks & Recreation slammed the NRA after the gun rights organization used a GIF from the show on Twitter.

The National Rifle Association tweeted out a GIF of main character Leslie Knope — a happy-go-lucky bureaucrat serving in an Indiana parks department — thanking spokeswoman Dana Loesch for her appearance at CNN’s gun violence town hall.

Unsurprisingly, the cast of Parks was none too enthused by the NRA using their beloved protagonist, played by Amy Poehler, and slammed the association on Twitter.

Nick Offerman, who played the mustachioed, hardcore libertarian Ron Swanson on Parks, informed the NRA that the “good-hearted show and especially our Leslie Knope represent the opposite of your pro-slaughter agenda.”

“[Take] it down and also please eat shit,” he added.

And show co-creator Michael Schur, who tweets under the name Ken Tremendous, shared a text he received from Poehler herself with a special message for the NRA:

Adam Scott, who plays Knope’s husband Ben on the show, told the NRA to “stay the fuck away” from his on-air wife:
