Pat Robertson Has No Problem with People Marrying Their Cousins, Except…

It’s a question that plagues only a few: is marrying your cousin okay with God? Well, on The 700 Club Tuesday, Pat Robertson said there’s nothing in the Bible against marrying your cousin, the real problem’s gonna be making sure that if you have a baby, it doesn’t have any significant genetic issues.

Robertson explained that certain recessive genes, if passed on from both parents, may end up “with children with some kind of disability.” He advised anyone who wants to marry and have a baby with their cousin to check the genetics because “you don’t want to have some mongoloid child,” though he quickly backed away from using that term.

But other than the genetic issues, “there’s no problem,” Robertson said, so anyone who wants to marry their cousin: go nuts!
