Paul Ryan Slams VA Secretary for Comparing Wait Times to Disney: ‘This Is Not Make-Believe’
Speaker of the House Paul Ryan ripped into Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald Monday after the latter told reporters that the VA shouldn’t be judged based on wait times because Disney theme parks aren’t.
“When you go to Disney, do they measure the number of hours you wait in line? Or what’s important? What’s important is, what’s your satisfaction with the experience?” McDonald said.
Ryan took to Twitter to shred those comments in a series of tweets.
This is not make-believe, Mr. Secretary. Veterans have died waiting in those lines. https://t.co/OxfT3AYzTi

The happiest place on earth? Secretary McDonald compares #VA lines to #Disneyland. Seriously. https://t.co/SmvIKqxGKW

There’s no Fast Pass at the #VA. #Veterans seeking medical attention don’t have that luxury. https://t.co/SmvIKqxGKW

The last two tweets link a blog on the Speaker’s website attacking the Obama appointee. “This kind of flippant comment shows just how seriously the Obama administration’s VA is taking these life or death problems,” the post reads. “And it’s not acceptable.”
