Penn AG Kathleen Kane Dismisses Perjury Charges as ‘Stealth Political Weapon’
Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane is facing calls for resignation as she faces accusations of perjury, obstruction of justice, and leaking grand jury information to embarass political enemies. Kane gave a press conference earlier today, where she said that she will not resign and was innocent of any wrongdoing or conspiracies.
“My defense will be that I broke no laws of this common wealth,” Kane said. “From the moment this email traffic became discoverable, some involved in this filthy email chain have tried desperately to ensure these emails never see the light of day.”
In the rest of her speech, Kane went on to attack her critics, saying that she was actually being targeted state employees who wish to through her under the bus to prevent her from disclosing their dirty laundry.
Kane said that the charges were the latest “stealth political weapon” by critics after her office discovered pornographic and explicit content while examining how state prosecutors under her predecessors handled the abuse case against Jerry Sandusky.
Kane reportedly asked the judge to release the collection of emails from her office in order clear up what she calls an “incomplete” story. She also asked the state’s disciplinary board to postpone the invalidation of her law license.
