An unidentified woman was captured in surveillance video walking away from the scene of a fatal accident in Brooklyn’s Fort Greene neighborhood. Apparently, she was too busy eating a slice of pizza to care that another woman had just been killed.
According to DNAinfo New York, 30-year-old Victoria Nicodemus was struck and killed by an unlicensed, uninsured driver at 5:26 p.m. on Sunday. Police say that two other pedestrians were struck and seriously injured by the vehicle, but Nicodemus was later pronounced dead at Brooklyn Hospital.
Several witnesses from nearby businesses rushed to the scene, but the pizza-eating woman in the surveillance footage did not. Instead, she meandered away from the scene, occasionally looking back while stuffing her face with a thin slice.
“I don’t know how you could keep eating your pizza and keep walking. There’s no reason,” Lerima Guadelupe told DNAinfo New York. “At least try. Make it your business to help. Not OK. … Wouldn’t you want to help?”
Frank Lopez, who works at a nearby deli, told the outlet, “All I can say is the world we live in, some people are cold-hearted. There’s nothing I can do to change them. God have mercy on them and that’s it.”
The pizza-eating witness in the video has not yet been identified.
