Press Fund Backed by Google Giving Money to Charlie Hebdo

The Digital Innovation Press Fund, a French-based fund backed by the power of Google, is giving money (a reported $300,000) to Charlie Hebdo to support the satirical publication as they attempt to move on from the horrible terrorist attack that left over ten of their staffers dead.

The fund was set up back in 2013 to give money to “news media that have ideas for innovation in the digital age.”

Ludovic Blécher, the fund’s managing director, told USA Today that “we’re working on a process in order to find an exceptional answer to an exceptional situation.”

The magazine will print another edition next week, distributing a million copies as opposed to the usual 60,000.
