Rabbi Sued for Accidentally Turning Circumcision into Castration

A Pennsylvania rabbi is being sued after perhaps one of the most unfortunate mishaps ever at a bris: accidentally severing the baby’s penis. The incident occurred eight months ago, and following some emergency surgery the rabbi is facing a lawsuit over the serious accident.

The ceremony was held at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Squirrel Hill, and after the baby’s penis was cut off during the ceremony, he was rushed to the hospital immediately for some emergency reattachment microsurgery. The reattachment was reportedly successful after the baby was in the hospital for roughly two months.

The rabbi in question, Mordechai Rosenberg, expressed regret at the “tragic accident” but is continuing to perform circumcisions in the meantime.
