Radio Host: Gays In NFL Locker Rooms Will Cause ‘Grenade-Like Explosion’

Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association went on a tirade about the possibility of gay players in NFL locker rooms on his radio show, Focal Point, on Friday. Fischer was reacting to the speculation about former Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o‘s sexuality that is taking place at the NFL Combine.

Fischer said that “a grenade like explosion” would take place in an NFL locker room would take place if openly gay players were allowed. Fischer then went on, like so many have before him, to compare the NFL to the military.

“They’ve got to be concerned about the same thing the military does. They got to be concerned about morale, they’ve got to be concerned about unit cohesion, they’ve got to be concerned about readiness; are these guys ready to take the field, and they’ve got to be concerned about retention,” Fischer said.

Fischer went on to talk about NFL teams welcoming open gays and even actively recruiting them to their teams.

“They know that other players are going to stay away from that team in droves. They won’t be able to complete a roster!” he said.
