Reason.com ‘Creatively Edits’ Katie Couric’s Response to Gun Doc Controversy

Reason.com has responded to the recent kerfuffle over the “creative” editing of Katie Couric‘s documentary about guns by releasing a “creatively” edited response, culled from Couric’s own clips.

“There are some timeless skills that you need to really hone in order to be a good journalist,” Couric says at the beginning of a video that splices together various recorded remarks she has made into an embarrassing monologue.

Couric “continues”:

That is you need to learn how to edit — and edit well.  — There’s so many opportunities for — aggressive — editing — or whatever. I wish I’d studied — journalism — more, more rigorously.  — Well, I mean it’s no secret or surprise that — I don’t necessarily understand — journalism — but I’m in the process of trying to figure it out. — And I don’t know — it leaves me with a feeling of profound inadequacy.

Well played, Reason.
