Reid: Man Who Concocted Story About Me Proves ‘Journalism Doesn’t Exist’
Senator Harry Reid (D-DGAF) praised a Las Vegas man Wednesday who concocted a story about his eye injury to test the gullibility of conservative media.
“What this guy proved to me is that journalism doesn’t exist,” Reid said. “I wish I’d meet this guy and pat him on the back.”
Scalliwag Larry Pfeifer invented a story that Reid’s brother Larry had beaten him up in a drunken rage, using Larry’s DUI around that time as a spur. Reid injured his eye in an exercise accident several months ago, which has given rise to Reid truthers who speculate he was pummeled in a mob deal gone wrong.
Pfeifer pitched his story to several conservative upstarts, and while some balked at his poorly-verified story, blogger John Hinderaker published it; the story eventually made it onto Rush Limbaugh’s show. Hinderaker has since defended himself by saying he clearly did not vouch for the veracity of the story, and did try to confirm Pfeifer’s false moniker.
Meanwhile, a contrite Pfeifer tried to call Reid’s office and apologize. “I don’t see why he should apologize,” Reid told the Las Vegas Sun. “I’m glad at what he did. It shows how foolish journalism is as we know it. It’s evaporating and that’s too bad.”
