GOP House Representative Allen West (R-FL) told NPR’s Michel Martin Friday that his recent defeat won’t deter him, because, after all, “Abraham Lincoln only served one term in Congress, too.”
West lost his re-election bid to Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy last month and told supporters that he may run for office again in the future, but as yet, had not decided. West only recently conceded defeat to Murphy, taking two weeks after the election to demand a recount of certain Florida counties.
When Martin asked about West’s plans for the future, he told her that he’ll continue to “stand up and fight for this country.” He then brought up his two daughters, aged 19 and 16, and told Martin that he wants “to make sure that they grow up in a great America that provides them all the opportunities that it provided to their mother and father.”
