Rep. Steve King Says Muslim Ban is ‘An Interesting Proposal’

kingRepresentative Steve King (R-IA) said on MSNBC Wednesday morning that Trump’s suggested Muslim ban was an “interesting proposal.”

When asked about the mandatory registry for Muslims that Trump also proffered during the campaign, King said he wasn’t sure “whether that’s the legacy or not.”

King is being floated as a possible pick for Director of Homeland Security, a position King said “fits the background that I have,” which includes serving on the House Immigration and Border Security Subcommittee.

When MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle asked if there should be a Muslim ban, King said, “Well, that’s an interesting proposal. And I have not discussed that until just today for the first time. I’d like to see all the ramifications of that and hear the arguments on both sides.”

He noted that Trump softened his original Muslim ban to a ban on people from countries affected by terrorism.
