Richard Branson Went To The White House State Dinner And Asked For Weed

Given the rare chance to go to the White House and speak to the president, I, for one, would over-think and rack my brain for just the right thing to say and the best question to ask. Richard Branson, on the other stand, went for a much simpler approach: he asked if they had weed.

As Politico reports, Branson — the business who head Virgin Group — attended the state dinner for British Prime Minister David Cameron, and later told The Atlantic’s Washington offices, “I asked him if I could have a spliff.”

To spare others the same trouble, he added, “they didn’t have any.”

Of course, Branson — who is an outspoken advocate of the legalization of marijuana — clarified he was joking. He also recently spoke at an Atlantic panel called “Benchmarking the War on Drugs.”
