Rubio, Jeb Deny There’s Beef Between Them After Viral Vine Suggests a Snub
GOP candidates Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush denied allegations that Bush rebuffed Rubio during a break at Tuesday’s Republican presidential debate, assuring the press it was “a cordial exchange.”
A Vine that surfaced Wednesday shows Rubio approach Bush, who then shakes his head “no.” Rubio immediately turns around and speaks to another candidate on the stage, Donald Trump.
On ABC’s Good Morning America, George Stephanopoulos asked Rubio about the incident, noting Bush “seemed to ice” him in the Vine.
“Someone showed me that video last night. It may look that way, but that’s not what happened.” Rubio said, adding he and his one-time mentor are “fine.”
“I know it makes for an interesting Vine video, but it really wasn’t anything of meaning,” he said.
Bush also dismissed rumors of a snub, telling Fox’s America’s Newsroom he and Rubio had “cordial” exchanges at every break.
Bush said that before the debate, Rubio made fun of his Paleo diet, but insisted he and his Republican rival are “good friends.”
“I admire him. He’s a gifted politician, for sure,” Bush added.
