Fox News boss Rupert Murdoch is an avid tweeter who has shared his opinions on pretty much every political issue you can think of, but today he weighed in (pun not intended) on the plight of a four hundred pound woman who crashed through a New York sidewalk. Murdoch suggested the woman got to be four hundred pounds thanks to welfare and food stamps.
Ulanda Williams fell through a sidewalk and into a vault cellar in front of a building in New York City, and told The New York Post that her weight may have saved her life. Murdoch had a decidedly different take on her obesity.
Murdoch quickly clarified his comments in a follow-up tweet, explaining that he is not “unsympathetic” to the woman’s plight, but did not apologize for making a point about obesity in America.
