Rush Limbaugh: I Didn’t ‘Inject Race’ Into Chris Lane Murder–It’s Already There

One day after referring to the Chris Lane murder case as “Trayvon Martin in reverse, but worse,” Rush Limbaugh told his radio audience the idea that he was “injecting race” into the story was preposterous. “Folks, it is mind numbing, the denial these people are in,” Limbaugh said.

“In the Zimmerman-Martin case you had Barack Obama himself injecting race into it,” Limbaugh said. “There was no racial component. The racial component had to be manufactured all because there was a black victim.” He argued that when the perpetrator is black, the race element is “ignored” by the media. “The whole Trayvon Martin-Zimmerman situation, there was no racial aspect to it, other than the one the left manufactured for the purposes of advancing its agenda.”

Limbaugh pointed to the “racist tweets” posted by one of the suspects as justification for considering race as a factor in the case. Instead, he said, “as far as the Democrats and left are concerned” the murder “was about guns.” Taking on the posture of “the left,” Limbaugh said, “It’s about violence. It’s about guns, and we gotta get rid of guns because guns cause violence.”

“Just ignoring what was right in front of their faces,” he said. “This continuing focus on guns, I’ll tell you, it’s rather obvious to me. The Democrat Party’s pandering to all minorities is literally destroying people in these minority groups.”
