Scott Walker on Wisconsin Recount Efforts: ‘Hard to Justify’ to Taxpayers
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has weighed in on the recount efforts underway in the state after Jill Stein filed a petition last Friday.
Stein is looking to get recounts in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan (which was just officially called for Donald Trump today) over questions that have been raised about the integrity of the vote. Those questions have been debunked by analysts.
Walker today weighed in and said that it is “hard to justify” doing the recount:
We made it easy to vote, hard to cheat in WI elections. Supporters of #Recount2016 were against our Voter ID initiatives.

WI’s electoral process is fair & protected. Are #Recount2016 supporters really that surprised how rural Wisconsin voted?

Days after the election, Walker pushed back against the idea that Wisconsin’s tough voter ID laws led to a drop in turnout this year.
