Sears Swiftly Pulls ‘Free Palestine’ T-Shirts After Jerusalem Post Story

After taking a brief foray into terrorist apologia, Sears has announced that it will no longer be selling “Free Palestine” clothing on their website.
The Jerusalem Post first spotted that the department store was selling shirts which sported the controversial slogan along with “End Israeli Occupation,” and a fist bearing the colors of the Palestinian flag. According to J-Post, the apparel appears to have only appeared on the Sears website and was in fact not directly being sold by the famous U.S. department store, but rather a third party, Spreadshirt.com.
The German-based company prints user generated content onto clothing and accessories. The shirt was also sold alongside ones promoting Julian Assange and have been available since
Reaction from the store was swift. Just a day after the original report, the same Israeli newspaper reported that Sears had responded and announced that they would be removing the items.
“We will be removing the items soon. Please allow us 24 hours. Thank you for understanding,” they said in a statement to the paper, “This item is sold by a third-party seller via the Sears Marketplace. Given the feedback we’ve received, we are currently evaluating the items in question to determine appropriate action. We will fix it and ensure this is not repeated.”
