Sen. Walsh Reacts to Plagiarism Charge: PTSD ‘May Have Been a Factor’

The New York Times targeted Democrat John Walsh today with a report on how the U.S. senator and former general plagiarized a significant amount of his post-graduate thesis. He appears to have borrowed whole phrases, even whole pages, for his thesis.

A spokesman for Senator Walsh suggested earlier his PTSD at the time was partly to blame, and in comments to the Associated Press, Walsh more directly gets that point across.

He said, “I don’t want to blame my mistake on PTSD, but I do want to say it may have been a factor. My head was not in a place very conducive to a classroom and an academic environment.”

Walsh insisted the mistake was unintentional and he did not mean to plagiarize so much for his thesis.
