Seth MacFarlane Rips Tucker Carlson For Anti-Media Tirade: Makes Me ‘Embarrassed to Work For’ Fox
Tucker Carlson is a very well educated intellectual. That’s what makes the ardent anti-intellectualism of his Fox News show so strange. He rails consistently against “experts” and members of the “mainstream media”, frequently telling his viewers: “they’re lying to you.”
That’s not unusual for Carlson, but his remarks on Thursday night’s show caught the eye of CNN media reporter Brian Stelter, who sent out this tweet in response:
Isn’t this sad? Tonight @TuckerCarlson told his viewers not to believe ANYTHING they learn from his rivals: “If you’re looking to understand what’s actually happening in this country, always assume the opposite of whatever they’re telling you on the big news stations.”

Aside from the obvious point that Carlson made those comments on Fox News, the biggest cable news network in America, the idea that a major network host is telling his viewers to discredit every big outlet that isn’t his own didn’t sit well with fans of a free press not-beholden to the Trump administration.
Carlson’s anti-press comments even caught the eye of Seth MacFarlane, the actor and creator of hit show Family Guy, which airs on FOX.
MacFarlane tweeted in response to Carlon’s screed: “In other words, don’t think critically, don’t consult multiple news sources, and in general, don’t use your brain. Just blindly obey Fox News.”
“This is fringe shit, and it’s business like this that makes me embarrassed to work for this company,” he added.

Carlson’s comments came in the opener of his show on Thursday night, in which he criticized how certain media outlets were covering the newly released IG report on the conduct of the FBI — notably claims that the report had concluded that FBI bias did not impact the investigations into the Trump campaign and Hillary Clinton’s email server.
“Keep this in mind: If you’re looking to understand what’s actually happening in this country, always assume the opposite of whatever they’re telling you on the big news stations,” Carlson said. “And that’s certainly the case here. They are lying.”
Next, Carlson had on Donald Trump Jr. to discuss.
UPDATE 06/19/18: Steve Levitan, the co-creator of sitcom Modern Family, backed MacFarlane on Twitter Tuesday, in response to host Laura Ingraham‘s remarks that child detention centers are “essentially summer camps.”
Levitan has a deal with 20th Century Fox, and wrote that he’s “disgusted to work at a company that has anything whatsoever to do with” Fox News.
Let me officially join @SethMacFarlane in saying I’m disgusted to work at a company that has anything whatsoever to do with @FoxNews. This bullshit is the opposite of what #ModernFamily stands for. https://t.co/dnvIbgoIyA
