Shunned by the NFL, Johnny Manziel is Headed Back to College
Just two years after being drafted in the first round by the Cleveland Browns, Johnny Manziel finds himself on the NFL scrap heap. So what is Johnny Football doing? He’s going back to school.
According to multiple reports, Manziel is enrolled in classes at Texas A&M for the fall semester.
Manziel, normally active on Instagram, has not said anything about his return to school. He did post a photo apparently from a Miami nightclub on Saturday.
Manziel won the Heisman Trophy while playing as a redshirt freshman for Texas A&M in 2012. He was a Heisman finalist in 2013, when Jameis Winston won the award.
Then Manziel left school and entered the NFL Draft, where he was chosen by the Browns with the no. 22 pick. Two tumultuous years later, Manziel is an NFL free agent and it appears though he may have great difficulty ever getting back into the league.
USA Today reports that Manziel is a recreation, parks, and tourism science major with more than 90 hours of completed coursework under his belt. Texas A&M requires a minimum of 120 to graduate.
